i fell in love with a ghost

A series by Sarah Fader

Part One

It started on the side of the road. I heard the car jolt forward, and it was accompanied by my heart, which skipped a beat. It was that day that I knew I was going to die.

It was the day she was supposed to get married. But she was having second thoughts. Something wasn’t right. We sat across from each other in the castle tower.

“I still dream about him.”

“He’s gone.” I said.

He died years ago. But she couldn’t let him go. Being a princess was all I ever wanted. And she had it, but she was miserable.

“I don’t want to be alive.” She said solemnly.

One solitary tear fell from her gray eye.

“You have everything you could ever want,” I said touching her arm.

“He’s dead. I have nothing.”

She was in love with a ghost.

I couldn’t understand why.
